New York – Day 11 Tuesday

Today is a shopping day. Fi’s looking for a camera, so we go to B&H the mother of all photography shops. And lordy it is big. To actually purchase or look at a lot of the stuff, you have to take a number. The used equipment section. The SLR section. The video camera section. Wish I was richer. Fi decides she needs to do more research before buying, but we’ve a better idea of what’s around and prices, etc.

We do more shopping in various parts of the city. Then back to Jacqui’s to pack. She has rellies coming and we won’t all fit. We are moving from the East Villiage to the West Villiage to stay with the fabulous Ross and Walter’s
It’s of great amusement to New Yorker’s that we are doing this: Equivalent of moving from Collingwood to Brighton. (But not Toorak – that’s equivalent of Park Ave. but multiply the rents by 50)

We check out some performance art nearby Ross’. It’s partvof some French festival. We wait for 20 mins outside Diane von Fustenberg’s shop. Then 2 models dressed as snow white come out behind the windows with placards saying ‘on strike’ and stare back at the crowd of 150 or so people. I heart New York. :-)
I decide to spend the rest of the night catching up in the blog, while Fi has dinner way off north with Steve. I end up not doing much blogging, but watch telly and the continuing financial crisis… Hmmm. Idea for a blog post….

This is the Flatiron Building. Why don’t they just call it the penis building?
